Fiona Williams is Emeritus Professor of Social Policy at the University of Leeds and Honorary Professor at the Social Policy Research Centre, University of New South Wales, Australia. She has published widely on gender, race and migration in social policy. Her latest book, Social Policy, A Critical and Intersectional Analysis, examines what the crises of racialized borders, of care, and of climate change mean for social policy. Other recent publications include ‘Extraction, exploitation, expropriation and expulsion in the domestic colonial relations of the British welfare state in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries’, British Journal of Sociology and, co-authored with Coretta Phillips, ‘Sleepwalking into the ‘Post-Racial’: Social Policy and Research-Led Teaching’, Social Policy and Society. Fiona is a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences, of the RSA, and of the British Academy where she edits the Journal of the British Academy. Discussants Rachael Dobson is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Criminology, Law School, Birkbeck College, University of London. She is a 2021 Leverhulme Fellowship award holder for 'Where Is The Power? Policy Ontologies In Theory And Practice'. Shona Hunter is a Reader in the Carnegie School of Education at Leeds Beckett University.
